Meet the Team

Therese Murray - Registered Dental Assistant / Treatment & Financial Coordinator Therese is an integral part of our team, having over 30 years of experience in the field of orthodontics.  She is a California native, and has lived in Truckee since 1989. Therese feels truly fortunate to have a career that she loves.  Not only does she enjoy helping to create beautiful smiles and healthy bites, but she thoroughly takes pleasure in connecting with our patients.  Her goal is to make sure that each patient is in a friendly and caring environment. Her favorite thing about working with Dr. West is that he puts the patients needs first, by treating each patient with the highest level of care and making every effort to ensure that they are well informed.  In her spare time, Therese enjoys horseback riding, fishing, hiking, skiing, and spending time with her family and friends.  She lives with her husband, Jim, and has two daughters:  Shauna, who lives in Reno, and Sarah, who resides with her husband Gus in Idaho. She is also a proud grandmother to Sarah's children, Lexi Marie and Landon.

Debi Babb - Registered Dental Assistant / Laboratory Technician Debi is an essential member of the team at West Orthodontics.  She has over 20 years of experience in orthodontics here in Truckee.  Debi also has a special talent in that, in addition to being a chairside orthodontic assistant, she owns and operates her own orthodontic laboratory at home.  This means that she makes all of the retainers and other intraoral appliances for West Orthodontics.  She can make some very special designs for your retainer, at your request! Debi says that her favorite part about her career is getting to know families in the area.  It is very rewarding for her to see the local kids grow up to be happy & successful adults.  She is so grateful to be able to give them smiles that they can be proud of for years to come. Debi has two grown sons, Ryan and Kellan, as well as a daughter, Lindsay, and her husband, Ryan, and their sons, Tristan and Deaglan.  She lives in the Sierra Valley with her husband, Mike, and enjoys spending time with her family on the weekends, as well as community volunteer projects, and international traveling.

Saira West - Registered Dental Hygienist Saira plays an important role at West Orthodontics, taking on many positions in both the front and back offices.  She has a Bachelors degree in dental hygiene from the University of California, San Francisco, where she met Dr. West when he was a dental student and she was a dental hygiene student.   In addition to her time at West Orthodontics, she works as a part time dental hygienist for Tahoe City Dental Group in Tahoe City. Saira has over six years of experience working in dental offices in various roles.  She loves being able to work with patients who are excited about their treatment and the great outcome they will have.  Saira and Dr. West moved to Truckee in the summer of 2007. Together they have a son, Jack Larkin, who was born in January of 2010.  She loves living in Truckee and being involved with the local community.  In her spare time, she competes in sprint triathlons, and enjoys traveling, camping, cycling, and learning to ski better (in order to keep up with Dr. West!) She is an active member of the American Dental Hygienists Association.

Nicole Henry - Records Assistant / Front Desk Receptionist

West Orthodontics would like to introduce Nicole, who joined our team in July of 2010!  Nicole is a welcome addition to our office and takes on several important roles in the practice. You may first meet her at the front desk when you walk in, or you may have the privilege of having her take your starting records.  Nicole has her radiographic licensure and has been well trained in taking accurate and quick records on each and every new patient at West Orthodontics. 

She has lived in Truckee for 13 years and is proud to call the area home.  Nicole likes working in orthodontics because she can appreciate the wonderful relationships that are created in the short time a patient is in treatment.  She loves spending time with kids as well, so it is a perfect fit!  In her spare time, Nicole enjoys motorcycling, swimming, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Nicole is married to Erik Henry, and has two (almost!) grown children, Cloe and Levi, that are her pride and joy.

Maura Contreras - Sterilization Technician / Spanish Language Facilitator

West Orthodontics is pleased to introduce the newest member of our team, Maura!  Maura has lived in Truckee for over 18 years and is well acquainted with many members of the community.  She is thrilled to be part of the team at West Orthodontics and loves learning new things each day and having the opportunity to work with Truckee locals. 

As Sterilization Technician for the office, Maura makes sure that the office and instruments are kept up to the high standards that you have come to expect from West Orthodontics.  She has been specially trained in sterilization and disinfection procedures, and continues to take courses to update her on new information that is published.  Maura also works in the orthodontic lab with Debi, pouring up models and making retainers.  She is bilingual in English and Spanish and is able to translate, when needed, to our Spanish speaking patients and their families.  West Orthodontics is proud to have Maura as part of our team,  as we can now better serve our community!

Maura is happily married to her husband, Jose, and has two young sons at Truckee Elementary, Eduardo and Carlos.
